So a friend of mine and I have been trying to use basic minecraft as we find it to be smoother than spoutcraft, and I myself can't run spoutcraft for more than 30 minutes at a time.
We saw the solution to key bindings on the wiki and decided to give it a try, and surely it failed. We had the current installed: Rei's Minimap, Mod loader, Improved Chat mod.
I am unsure if there's any conflicts of these and we've moded quite often so we know what we're doing. I was wondering, is there more than one Improved chat mod? I've come to this one and thought it was the one spoken of on the wiki.
