I am thinking of switching to Alchemist once I master Farmer but cannot find any listing of potions or their mats on the wiki. Can someone point me in the right direction ?

Keep in mind that all potions don't work, some including invisibility and harming don't work.

I shall get online later and test the potions that work.

Potions that work:
Fire Resistance
Swiftness
Healing
Regeneration
Poison

Potions that 100% dont work
Invisibility
Harming

Potions that kind of work or I am still testing
Weakness(seems that it makes melee damage go right to 0)
Strength(dont have the material to test as of yet)
Night Vision(dont have the material to test also)

Kainzo please confirm as best you can.
WitchOnaRampage Is is possible to add a section in the wiki for working potions?

The ones that do work are speed potions, healing potions, fire resist potions, and night vision. Regen pots work aswell but I think they only do 1 hp per heal. Same with strength potions I think they do 1 hp more. There may be more but those are the main ones.

Erm... there was a list of potions that can be made, but be buggered if I can find it in the wiki...

I'll keep looking for it - it should be linked to Alchemist / you can brew potions. If I can't find it, I have the info to put it up again. Give me 24 hours please.

I'm still trying to figure this out. The info I'm putting here is a starting point for discussion - and I'd really appreciate comments from alchemists who are experienced with potions.

GENERAL

There are two issues here - what's brewable at HC, and the effect those potions have at HC (which may differ from the effects listed in the MC wiki).

BREWABLE AT HC

Disabled in HC: Invisibility, Invisibility Ext, splash versions of Harming and Harming II

Not currently working in HC, but might be again soon: Strength potions, Weakness potions

Not brewable in MC (according to MC wiki): splash versions of Regen II, Swiftness II, Strength II and Poison II.

All other potions, as listed in the MC wiki, including splash versions and night vision, should be brewable in HC.

EFFECT OF POTIONS AT HC

I'm pretty sure the effects of some potions in HC are modified. For example, I think the Healing potions heal instantly but for less hearts than listed in the MC wiki. (Will check this next time I'm ingame.) Comments anyone?

WitchOnaRampage, I think swiftness II potions were brewable in MC. I bought them in game. I used to brew them all the time on singleplayer. I think the wiki meant Potion of Swiftness III? Or you may have made a typing mistake ;)

I'm not really sure of any input I can give at this time. I haven't been able to brew any level II pots for lack of glowstone, and I didn't realize that there may be a difference between HC pots and MC pots, so I haven't been looking for any difference. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. ^ ^

I just tested them in SP, the minecraft wiki seems to have a fair amount of misinformation.
I think they're referring to a specific data value of potion that would correspond to that splash potion. Not that you can't brew a form of speed 2 splash

There are potions that exist, that work, on top of all the others, but that can't be brewed.
It's like speed 2 extended splash
