So pretty much I start to lag when there is a large amount of people, or mobs around me. This is not minecraft lag, or my computer, it lags my internet.

While in a dungeon with a very large amount of mobs I lag, freeze, and disconnect constantly (even though it only goes up to about 300 ping)

While in a large group fight my ping goes up to 300 but I do not experience disconnects (while in limbo with everyone on a server restart I also lag)

I am playing on a new (2014) Macbook Pro with a Retina Display connected with Wifi. When I first experienced this issue I found that switching to my old, bad desktop (windows) stopped the issue (connected with ethernet). My internet is not the greatest (in fact it is horrible) but I have never experienced this issue until now (I believe it started at 1.8 but I do not remember).

I have also tried uninstalling java because I had to install it for 1.8 (when the issue started to occur) but I had no luck

I appreciate it if anyone can provide me with some assistance

Hope it has to do with 1.8 and it gets solved when macromod is updated to 1.8.1
Im also in a laptop and 1.8 is doing really weird things... fps lags, connection lags,... doesnt happen in 1.7.10 or 1.8.1

Try:
64-Bit Java (If that applies for you machine)
Upgrading to 1.8.whateverthemostcurrentis
Not having the forums open (The forums eat peoples CPU's which leads to lag)
Making sure other people aren't streaming/downloading major things

The one thing I must say: If it only happens when there's people around it's not your internet, it's probably your CPU running out of space, you graphics card running out of space (Especially if you have integrated not dedicated), or Java deciding it wants to take your computer hostage (It'll do this when it thinks it needs more resources than it really needs).

The only solution I know of the that last one is to set Java priority higher so it gets what it wants (This means other things will lag/not work when Java takes away the memory). Otherwise it could just simply be a software issue (Corrupted java files, full registry etc).

Getting Java again (64 bit)
I don't know if updating MC is an option at the moment because mods may not yet be updated
The forums cause frame lag, I've never experienced internet lag from them. I always make sure they are closed while I play
Everyone lets everyone know when they are streaming/downloading something so that is not the problem for me

I understand that I could be running out of CPU space but will that cause internet lag? While I am lagging thanks to this issue I do not notice anything wrong with my computer, no actual computer lag.

Hm, the thing is, if it's only when people/mobs get near you, it more than likely isn't internet lag, as they wouldn't cause MC to be heavier on your network. The only time MC gets heavier is when it has to send more data (Heroes will be heavier than vanilla, since its sending/recieveing more date). And most times CPU lag =/= computer lag mainly because OS's are smart enough to reserve enough space for themselves at all times. Even if you had 100% of your CPU used, windows/osx/whateverthecraplinuxucallstheirthing would always run on their own.

I would suggest trying to just play on 1.8.1 see if that fixes it, if it does, it means its an issue with 1.8 (1.8 has a lot of bugs, most players started experience lag due to 1.8, but 1.7.10 and 1.8.1 are reported to run fine).

I should note: If the lag you speak of is you rubber banding, its you Network card. This is only for rubberbanding, not everything else stopping then catching up, that is 100% internet and I cannot help you there. You can try to update drivers but there isnt much you can do for network connections. They are independent of your computer and internet specs.
The best guess I can make in that case would be that either Java is borked, or 1.8 hates you. After that I can't help anymore.

While in a dungeon there is always a group of people with everyone spamming their skills. Plus you add on all the damage counters popping up. Maybe I am receiving too much when there is a lot happening.

It could be that your network's bandwith limit is reached and you simply cant get the data fast enough. That very well could be the case, and if so I dont know of anything to do.

Check to see that your internet connection, wireless router, and wireless adapter are all capable of speeds of at least 15mbps.

If you are positive it is connection lag, and you do not experience the issue when using the same PC hooked up via Ethernet cable then the issue is likely your router (anything less than N600 is not fast enough for what you are trying to do)
