Needless to say this has been very difficult for me.
Firstly, after creating and reading all wiki's I could find, I head out into PVE to try to get a hang
of how it all puts together. So in PVE, I create a home, plant a forest , and start "minecrafting",
leveling, and learning. I work in my mine, come up, only to find my stuff stole(legal) and my
house vandalized and my forest I had created gone. I file a petion as suggested by the helpful
staff. I continue playing. Suddenly, while working on an undergournd forest, I turn around
to find a LVL 61 slaying me. Didn't take long. My first reaction is all "wtf?" Not only is this the
first person I had met in the "world", but this was supposed to be PVE. I ask on chat and am
told because of WAR(which has no mention in the wiki's....suprise PVE isn't PVE) When I ask
where to find information about war I'm told type /war. This brings up a good bit of info, but
what you are looking for is the word DENY by pvp. This means war is not active. WAR allows
anybody to kill anybody anywhere. ..... WAR is not on all the time, basically there is enough time for
the PVE player to go an gather enough resources to make it worth the PVPers time.

I digress from my story. So I decide to move. Still haven't heard back from my petition at this time.
So I search for another place to move, start buiding there. Come back to get what stuff I had managed
to collect, and went to move. Gakked again by the same lvl 61( btw I was a lvl 1 Lost Soul). Everything
I had gone.....again. I never do hear back about my petition, so I figure out all the petition commands
to find that the person whom vanadalized my area was well established with over $3000 souls, and they
get a warning. I don't know what else may have occurred, as I did move.

Now, let me get this straight. This isn't whining nor am I looking for sympathy, but I thought perhaps
if I told my story, it might help another newbie know better what to expect, as well as to show how
frustrating it is for someone new to come in and play, looking to make friends, to only find hostile players and
conditions. The worst thing to do is get on any chat channel and appear critical or vent frustration,...trolls abound.
I probably have put a huge target on my head due to this very post.

Since I put my frustrations on the forum, let me also put what I find awesome.
The classes both professional and combat are very well done with much thoughtl.
There appears to be an ongoing commitment to improve and sustain the game.
What staff I have spoken to are both helpful and nice.
Lightning and Thunder are very "popular" especially when certain ppl are online. *I don't know if thats good or not, but
if you can't beat em join em.)
The economy is pretty straight forward once you get past a small learning curve.
*Truth is I haven't been able to get to where I feel I can give any proper critique of most other pieces of the game.

I'd recommend joining a town for protection. Find an active PvE town to help during war times and to help level you. You also get 1 free class change so use /hero choose classname to get a better class. You aren't meant to stay lost soul.

If you need help go to /ch h or /ch tour and look for people with a Guide tag. Their job is to help you (please remember all staff are volunteers though).

I absolutely agree with you about the point you made on WAR.

It is the number one question I hear from players after 'how do i choose a class' and 'how do i find an admin to help me get on the forums'. It is to the point that when I see '15 mins to WAR' I go ahead and type out a line about how it's when PvE turns to PvP. I think that feature should be more showcased upon joining. Being killed during war when they did not ask the question or read the chat, is the number one outburst from a noob in chat, too.

To add onto what Zelk said, it really is important to find safety early on when joining Herocraft. Which would be provided by a town. It's more reasonable to have your stash in a protected region, gain some power/souls/etc, and then venture out when you have better footing in the world to create your own abode.

And this is why I would like PVE to be removed entirely so there is no confusion on war. As well as a level limit that applies to only your combat class before you can PVP, but @Lowekii it is MUCH better to write these kind of things on the forums for players to read, so thank you for that :D .

Tips:
#1 and most important thing is choose a class, if you don't have plenty of food available I suggest Druid because it is very strong all around
#2 Don't rant in o chat, it only gives enemies not
friends and this is a huge mistake many new players will make
#3 in my opinion it is overall safer to live in PVP, now this may sound stupid however when war comes people head north just for the intent of finding and killing people near them, if you aren't in a big group and don't have a bounty they generally won't bother with you.
#4 this is a clans season meaning people sadly will camp graveyards for kdr if that happens either buy redsto a and just recall or log off for a little bit and look at the forums or something
But do NOT feed people and let them kill you, or you will permanently become a target for killing.

The way i started was similar, except there was no pve when i joined. I bounced around from base to base. I found getting an lwc right off the bat was the best goal to begin with. This is pretty simple (even more so since you live in pve). Start by killing mobs to level your first (free) class(if you want to defend yourself) or farming wheat (with a big enough farm you can have the souls in no time). I would go as far as to say build a farm right next to spawn, a huge one, then farm it until you can afford an lwc.

With an lwc things arent so bad, you wont lose everything to a raider.

After you have an lwc i suggest finding a town. Towns make for much more secure areas (although they can be beacons for raiders).

Dont lose hope.

Rob from people regularly, they will try to do the same to you.

This is all the advice I have for starting out, best of luck.
