Kainzo , Please move this to someplace important or send it as an alert to ALL new members that register. Guides and any other staff; I may have made mistakes so feel free to point them out below so I may fix them.
~Welcome all noobies/newbies to Herocraft!
As a [Guide] I am required to assist you on tour chat and help chat, and with any general questions you have! So, that being kept in mind, I will make this really simple for all new players. This post shall contain your basic necessities as a new player, and will help you as a good guideline, as well as answer a few questions you may ask in game. PLEASE go through EACH spoiler as to not miss ANYTHING IMPORTANT.
THE RULES
Herocraft has many rules on what you should be doing, and what you should not be doing. It is important to know the rules both before in game AND in game. The list of our rules are simple but quite large. If you feel you cannot follow these rules, I urge you to try! We love new players.
Some offences in herocraft require staff online at the time to warn you, some may take immediate action based on the offence you have committed. Keep this in mind!
RULES LIST
- Do not, under any circumstance, abuse/use glitches and exploits you have found within the game; As it leads to unfairness.
- This includes, Abusing PVP and NO PVP mechanics.
- Don't use skill-based exploits.
IF YOU HAVE FOUND AN EXPLOIT/BUG, PLEASE REPORT IT VIA BUG REPORTS -Exploit report; HERE || Bug report; HERE - Do not, Hack, or use any mod that is not on our "Allowed Mods" thread, Located HERE
- Do not Create "dark rooms" for mob spawning, It removes mobs from the surface.
- Do not "Boost" IE Kill friends for the exp repeatedly. Camping is just mildly fine, but is frowned upon by the community.
- Do not "AFK Macro" Where you use a command or action many times for benefit while AFK
- Do not HARASS other players, this means verbal. PVP is NOT harassment!
- Do not mindlessly grief the world. It looks bad and you look bad.
- GO HERE if you have a brother or a sister wanting to play HC (same IP's conflict with us)
- Do not argue/complain/annoy Staff. Be courteous.
- NO ALTS
- NO GRIEFING ON BASTION
- WARSHARD GRIEF is allowed (2 different worlds, Bastion and Warshard)
- NO INVISIBLE SKINS- You will be notified by someone, We use spoutcraft so it may view your skin as invisible, please change it if this happens.
- NO poop, OR INTERNET EBONICS. (Ie Troll face, Trololololo, Is this the krusty krab?)
- NO SPAM IN CHATS/USE CHATS FOR THEIR INTENDED PURPOSES. ALSO NO ALL CAPS.
- YOU MAY,
-Steal (not through exploiting) Including from chests that you can open, and including a list of rare blocks -> (Rare blocks consist of diamond, gold, cracked-stone brick and mossy stone bricks.)
YOU CANNOT steal from your town. That results in a ban. Town specific rules below. - YOU MAY PVP anywhere where there is NOT a NO PVP zone.
TOWN SPECIFIC RULES - Maliciously destroying blocks is illegal.
- Any attempt to join a town for malicious purposes is strictly prohibited.
- Looting chests is illegal unless owned by you. Then its yours!
- You may not steal from fellow town members.
ALSO there is an in game command /rules , Use that for reminder of rules, PLEASE NOTE This list of rules must be assumed to be generalized. As in it is in simplified form. (Broad, Vague)
PETITIONS
Oh no! Have you seen a player hacking? Or someone has exploited you? Well fret not! we have a large amount of staff that read and answer petitions as their jobs on the server.
To create a petition use
/pe new <Message> (Ie I have seen a "x" hacking!)
*Please Open the petition AT the location.*
Some rules regarding PE's
- Do not spam Pe's (Ie make the same one because you did not like the answer you got)
- Act courteously when doing pe's 1) its a game 2) acting bad with admins will most likely make them not want to be more "positive" towards you.
- Don't lie inside Pe's ; Honesty is key, even if you did something wrong. Better fess up then mess up again.
Herocraft is fairly simple to grasp, To begin you may join as a whitelisted person, or a greylisted.
greylists have limitations to them. (white list HERE ALSO read the guidelines!)
- They cannot build in the normal world (Bastion)
- Only in warshard. *
- They cannot speak in any public chats other than tour.
- They are limited to the channels of /ch shout , /ch local ./ch tour ./tell (short forms in order ./ch sh ./ch l ./ch tour ./r)
Whitelisted have all the mentioned above restrictions removed
That all being said, lets go over the some of the functions you should know!
There are 4 classes and 1 profession you can choose from.
Warrior , Caster , Rogue , Healer. Prof: Crafter
You can view their skills and specializations in the herocraft wiki HERE.
to choose any path/class the command is
/hero choose <Class/path>
/hero confirm
To choose your profession the command is/hero prof <Profession> (crafter at first)
/hero confirm
HP & STAMINA
HP is not regular on this server like most things. Its a large number that is also a fraction, which is factored into the 10 hearts you see on your HUD. HP also fluxuates depending on your class/path IE warriors have 600/600 hp whereas rogues have 400/400
Stamina is also quite peculiar, for 3 reasons. It never goes down when you sprint, It always has 1/2 a bar missing, and it does not regenerate your health... well why? Stamina in this server is actual stamina, (Imagine it like "WoW"). For every skill you use that doesn't use mana, it uses stamina, For instance, Warrior using bash uses 3 1/2 stamina. Stamina regenerates at 1/2 per 1.5 seconds. So how do you heal your health then? Its really simple!
Eat ANY cooked food or vegetable/fruit. Ie cooked steak/Porkchop, soup, Cooked potatoes, Melons etc.
SKILLS
YES We have a skill system!, It allows you to flux the tides of battle into your favor
...How do I- WELL THAT'S SIMPLE!
To use a skill type in ./skill <skillname>
HOWEVER there is a simpler way, While holding ANY object type in
/bind <skillname>
(to unbind do /unbind while holding the item)
And then you right click with the object (left click if the object is place-able in any way!)
ALSO , for a list of skills, check the wiki OR do this command /skills
Alot of you have asked about /sethome ! We have no such command here HOWEVER.
When you reach level 10 crafter (by mining/farming etc) you have access to 2 unique skills.
/skill mark <- Allows you to basically 'sethome' where you are standing
/skill recall <- Allows you to return to your 'home' With a 15 minute cooldown (Cooldowns below)
ALSO there is a skill called "warp" and it warps you to spawn with a 4 hour cooldown.
/skill warp
*NOTE /skill mark is obtained at level 5 whereas /skill recall is obtained at level 10 of your crafter profession.
COOLDOWNS, are set in place so that you may not spam yours skills and nuke everything.
each skill has a different cooldown.
To see what skills are ON cooldown type in this command
/cd
WHEN leveling up, you may notice your chat has become spammed with Experience gains because stone is worth some exp. To make it so that you dont see EXP gains type in
/hero verbose
WARNING - /hero verbose hides mana in chat as well.
Finally to check your levels and progress in Herocraft, simply type in;
/lvl
NOW WHAT?
Well, Its simple, Pretend you are playing vanilla minecraft. Go mine, create tools and then fight mobs, At your own risk of course, (Dont forget your new skills)
Everything (nearly) you do levels either class or profession, Mining levels profession and hunting and pvp level class.
BUT there are restrictions for all of us! Each class is limited on the tools they can use.
Warrior classes can use more armor but deal less damage, where as rogue classes deal damage but have little to no armor.
For info on the armor types and HP/mana use these commands
/hero tools (All accessible tools by your class AND profession)
/hero armor (All accessible armor by your class only)
/hp (Current HP fraction , IE 543/567 )
/mana (Used by "%'s" on screen, Most classes have 100 except casters and healers)
HOW TO gain money!
We have an interesting currency system. Every gold ingot you sell is worth 9 coins at DHX (DHX= Herocraft bank! sell gold here! Located near the top of the main spawn) That being said, mining should be done regularly. However! if you are up for a greater challenge, Hunt mobs, Each may drop a gold nugget and can be combined to make a gold ingot which can be sold.
YOU need 250 coins to specialize in your current path, meaning you pick an advanced class and professions (each time you respec it costs 250c and returning to a spec you were already once costs 500c even for professions)
After you have Leveled to 30 in both class and profession, Pick your specs! ALL the spec info is on the wiki which you should check out!
TOWNS?
YES ! We have a functioning town plugin in herocraft.
Town rules stated above.
When you join a town, you are able to live inside the safety of its walls and players protection each other, This means that it is a big advantage, as being a solo player leads to death in alot of cases. When you are in a group of players its safer.
ALL towns operate differently and will have different rules and taxes, HOWEVER Town rules COME AFTER Server Rules.
To join a town simply go HERE and look for one that interests you, read their post and hope for the best! (Recommended that you be white listed)
Guilds!
Though we do not have an actual command system/mechanic for guilds players are free to create and join guilds as they please.
A guild on this server can be defined as a group of people that are together and wont kill each other, but also work together like a town. (Sort of like a sub town)

!QUESTING
Herocraft has quests, and by doing each quest you gain rewards such as EXP and money.
The quests inside herocraft are well hidden. Currently there are 5-8 quests and that number is subject to change
To do a quest, right click an NPC (yes we have NPC's )and read its speech.
Once done, IT will ask you a question
You reply to the question by going into local chat (/ch l) and saying either "Yes" or "No"
Do the quest requirements then come back to the quest giver.
SPOUTCRAFT
This server uses bukkit, and our client is Spoutcraft.
To get Spoutcraft simply go to this website get.spout.org
Using spout!
Spoutcraft is a custom client that we use, and being a custom client it is the only one that you can use other than vanilla.
Noticable changes
- The options menu is different.
-advanced options button; top left corner.
-preset configs with options; select "Performance/custom etc" - Less Fps drops (may vary depending on machine specs)
- Built in mini map.
- Built in mods IE Mana bars (Currently disabled, 1.3/4 bugs)
- Bindable keys
-To bind a key, simply go to options, then go to controls. When in the controls menu, click "Add Shortcut" and fill in all the blanks, and choose a key to bind to. (Note! Use ./skill <skillname> not ./bind , so you wont bind ... binds...) Then you finish by clicking "Add command" at the end.
-Now use the key and test it out, it should work. - Can change controls
-double click on the control and then hit the desired key.
FAQ's
ASK any questions you feel need be answered (You may ask in both ./ch help (/ch h) or /ch tour)
