Simply stated, I think maybe the disenchant skill should have a warm-up instead of cooldown, Just in case you go to disenchant something and realize that you had the wrong item slot selected.
Thankfully I haven't disenchanted a wrong item yet, but it's not entirely impossible. This'll give you a few extra seconds to scroll through your item bar or drop the item before disenchanting it.
