The End:
  • set amount of obsidian pillars arranged in a circular fashion​
  • ender dragon protects pillars more the further you progress - Screenshot
  • ender dragon has fire breath, can be collected in bottles​
  • ender dragon can be respawned as many times as you want​
  • you can craft a version of the ender crystals which spawn another dragon when placed​
  • ender dragon breath is an ingredient you can get from killing the dragon over and over, but only one dragon egg​
  • New type of portal: "End gateway" - Screenshots
  • Multiple end islands​
  • New item: Chorus Fruit (edible), comes from Chorus plants (farmable) - Screenshots
  • Only the flowers atop the chorus fruits let you replant the plants​

Mobs and Combat:

  • 3 types of attacks- sprinting and attacking will give knockback to enemy, attacking after jumping results in a critical hit, standing still or slowly moving forward uses special attack (only 1 of 3 can happen at a time)
  • Full charge hits with swords while standing or slowly moving forward will knockback all mobs (not players); full charge hits with axes on enemy players will stun their shield and prevent use for a small amount of time

Potions, New Items, Enchantments, etc
  • New type of potion variant- Lingering
  • Lingering potions leave an area of effect cloud behind, ~3 seconds
  • cloud is determined by the game as an entity, can be manipulated with plugins or commands
  • Made with Dragon's Breath
  • Brewing stand now requires blaze powder as fuel
  • New enchantments- Mending and Frost Walker
  • Mending turns gathered experience and converts into durability
  • Frost walker turns water into ice for a short amount of time
  • New item- Elytra
  • Allows for player to glide long distances, equipped in chestplate slot
  • Surprisingly very fluid, controlled by players view/direction
  • Boats reworked
  • Can carry two entities at a time, 1 driver 1 passenger
  • Movement dictated by 'rowing' with a and d keys
  • All wood variants, crafting recipe changed to include a wooden shovel

You can check out all these in the latest snapshot, looks very promising for HC in the future

This is all pretty cool, looks like it'll give HC a bunch of new things to work with (especially warriors and rogues)

Balance will be out the window for a while with those.
At least Paladin will be right at home with Shields? Maybe?

Dual wield is also a thing in 1.9 however you can only attack from your MAIN HAND. (Which will be changeable per person)

I'd really like to see a Dual Wield Warrior class that uses two swords and has a passive boost to their damage if two weapons are Equipped. Running a check for a Sword in your offhand to give 35% of its damage in your Main Hand swings.

So if you had Two Diamond Swords you could do 50 Damage per MH Swing or 67.5 Damage if two are equipped. (50+17.5)

the Elytra seems like a lot of fun. Would love to see the opening of new classes with it, (was actually thinking it be cool to have a gunner class set using 1 of the dozens of gun plug-ins and possibly have a paratrooper class that uses Elytra, on side note would also be cool to have a Cavalry which uses horses~)
