Dungeons with traps, parkour jumping, and mazes. Once they are open, they can either be free or require a fee to rejoin everytime you die. First few people to make it through alive win the prizes.
These dungeons would be fully resetable and able to be closed off. Multiple pathways that lead to the end, each with difficult challenges in different subjects - parkour, fighting monsters, surviving traps, etc. These gauntlets should require little to no maintenance from staff and be repeatable. Less dependence on staff is best. Let them do their busy jobs and then rest and laugh at us all dying in these things.
