Bug POOP Username

I am unsure where to put this, but it seems like "bug" might be the best place, since that is what it might be.

For the past few days, people all over the server have been commenting that "POOP' hovers above my head instead of "ILikeTrains23456". I do not know whether it was put there by an admin, or if it is a bug, but I wish to have it removed.

I have never attempted to change my username to "POOP", and when I chat, login on the forums, post on the forums, and pm people, it still shows up as "ILikeTrains23456". I talked to WitchOnaRampage today, and was surprised when I was told that Witch had no idea how "POOP" had ever gotten there.

Could try changing your username, we don't have any code that would cause this, it may be a third party mod that we're using on the client. Most likely optifine.

It seems this will be a mystery until we luck on the one person who can say, "Oh that's easy! I know what that is!"

Atm I'm suspicious of the MPM mod. Am in convo with Trains trying to work this through. It's a fascinating puzzle!

- I don't think you can see "POOP" in adventure
- It is only on the herocraft server

Now, there are two things I haven't fully tested yet:
- Test Server
- Duels

The more I research this, the more confused I get.

And, I know one thing.

It was one of the first days that I was on adventure. I was hanging with @devotedworker, when he did something interesting. He was able to change the name above my head, as well as my skin.

I don't know any more information on this.

Sadly, the way I changed usernames used PacketHandeling through Denizen, a Plugin not on live. I have expressed my concern that it is likely a issue with the Tekkit Launcher.

The launcher can only change names with a cracker version and I assume only for that player and not for everyone else? That's my take from Googling anyway, but I'm just a simple man who doesn't know a lot.

The Tekkit pack can change usernames through Server or client request.

For instance, the Disguise Mod ( Or whatever its called ) has the ability to change Client Names for viewing purposes ( Via Client ), so it would not be unreasonable to assume either Trains ( Who said he didn't ) or an Admin or Coder had changed it.

However, I still don't believe anyone would do this purposefully, If so, I would expect reports from some of our... more disliked players

Waaait, I have to check this when I get home - but I think I might know something.

What if, when I was fooling around MPM, I had saved something under the name POOP? I don't see how that would change my overhead name, since other people would have discovered it. It's not much...but it's something to go on.

@devotedworker I assume you're referring to the Technic Launcher, and the More Player Models II mod?

That was also my suspicion. I messaged the MPM developer and indeed there is an admin command that changes player names.

However that command is not available in the version of MPM used at Herocraft, and in any case @xexorian and @TimForReal have both tested it out and found it not to work here.

Consensus seems to be that this sort of thing can happen if a player pisses off a dev and a rogue line of code is slipped into a mod to have this specific effect - but from what I know of @ILikeTrains23456 this seems very unlikely in this case.

Goodness knows where to look next.

I just tested out the MPM naming thing I had discussed earlier - with no luck. It might be a rogue line of code, but who knows? Honestly, what else could it be?

Have you tried name changing? Maybe removed the numbers or some numbers from your name. Not the best solution, but a possibility.

I have never tried name changing before. If it was a name changing problem, wouldn't it affect me throughout every server?

I'm not saying anything about other servers. If something on HC is affecting you, it's likely targeting either the username alone or UUID. Name changes are free, might be worth a shot.
