Bloodmage Ideas

We're going to be taking a look at bloodmages more indepth to make them more interesting. So please feel free to post your suggestions - The general flavor we are looking for is self sacrifice for greater rewards. Just because I post, or you post a skill here does not mean it will definetely get added.

Skill Ideas-

Bloodcasting -
All Skills would have their effects increased by a percentage (heals & damages) but deal damage to you above what they normally do.

Blood Golem - (1.9)
Summons a golem from your lifeforce to protect and attack

SoulBond
Splits damage taken between you and the targetted friendly player/creature

BloodBoil
Deals damage and stuns the target with pain for a short time from the initial shock

These are just some thoughts right now and are not yet finalized - please post your own thoughts/skill ideas. Thanks!

Would soulbond work with the HP cost of skills? I.E would soulbonding a Paladin mean huge resources of HP to pool from?

Considering Bloodmages are getting bumped up to 119HP at max level they are already going to be the 'tankyish' casters already. But no, I'd find a way to make sure it wasn't.

Bloody Bullet- Instantaneous damage at a distance, inflicts bleed to all in a radius around the target.

Lancet- Inflicts bleed upon or damages the opponent and heals user over time. For bloodmage, I'd give this a middling cooldown, something like 5 minutes. They seem like they'll be casting from HP a fair bit, so self-healing shouldn't happen often. But I wouldn't rule it out altogether.

First Blood- Damaging skill that does more when the caster's HP is full. AoE? Melee, perhaps? Could inflict bleed upon or just damage the user.

Equalize- think Pain Split from Pokemon. Friendly targets within a radius get their HP added together and redistributed equally with anything above HP caps being lost. So,
User: 100/100, Ally1: 25/75, Ally2: 35/40
100+25+35=160
160/3=53 (and a third)
User: 53/100, Ally1: 53/75, Ally2: 40/40
I'd imagine a large cooldown for this one.

Sounds more like a Paladin skill. In fact I posted a skill that's exactly the same on another thread. xD

My idea was that if you're the healer/caster you'll want to make to buff your tank with it during PvE as he'll want to keep aggro and if he's taking damage - mitigating it is a good idea via skills - Soulbond splits damage both directions not just 1 way.

Paladin has a lot more hp than a Bloodmage and could cast the buff on someone with low HP so they do not die as easily. I think that would be a better use of the skill. @-@

Death Siphon: The Blood Mage steals the remaining life force from dying combatants. Each player or mob to die within a certain radius while active replenishes health. Kinda necro-y, but I think it would work will in conjunction with Soulbond to help cushion your side of the bond.

Burst: The Blood Mage uses all of the life energy he can safely muster, taking him down to 5 hp and 10% mana. The target and a small aoe take damage comparable to what is sacrificed, becoming most effective when used at full health and mana. (maybe % based to avoid 1-shotting squishy classes?)

Life Siphon:
Steals HP over time and gives 50% of the stolen HP to the Bloodmage.

Blood Revival:
Awakens the blood of the user and gives him +20% more Speed and 10% more damage.

(Passiv?) Well of Power:
Absorb HP (1 Heart?) of a dead animal/monster and gives it to the user of the spell

Touch of Agony:
After the Skill is activated for 10 secounds, the next enemy who touch you will get Damage (-4 Hearts?)

Just some Ideas, dont need to be implemented ;)

bloodmages have either gotten an HP buff or are getting one soon. They'll have more HP than any of the other Warrior classes except for Paladin (but close).

I have a feeling bloodmage is going to be one of the most headache inducing classes, but by far one of the best. You guys are putting a ton of effort into it.

They need some form of life steal. Mostly i'm imagining a Vlad from League of Legends tho.

I'm not sure I understand the gist of Bloodcasting. Is that intended to be a self-buff? "...above what they normally do" is throwing me off.
