Can we just implement this asap and remove players ability to grief, this way we can get some player built structures and the map will look a little more pretty

I myself am culprit of just taking redstone blocks anjd iron blocks and shit just because I can and may need it in the future

I'm all for this. However, I don't agree with a hard black and white rule. This brings up issue of staff discretion. I don't want to get banned for placing a dirt block or breaking glass attempting to get into a structure. However, malicious griefing should be addressed.

Should go back to the old rules where you're not allowed to grief within 100 blocks of a town, and any other structure you have to place a sign on it and wait a few days before you can take it down, however taking valubale blocks like diamond, gold, etc is still acceptable like the good ole' days...

This factor of griefing allowed withing 100 blocks of town is killing my build vibes

on the topic of griefing can it be disabled within a 50 block radius of herogates? the back of ruby is looking like it got bombed and it really ruins PvP if you're just falling into terrain all the time and make the herogates look messy in general, at least they're easy to recognise lol

I dont mind the griefing, it gives us a challenge to protect our stuff. It also keeps us on, because if we dont want to lose our stuff, we either build to protect it, or we stay on to fight if anyone tries to take it.

I hate being able to make TC signs outside of towns in every kind of block legal. It's actualy super dumb and griefing should become illegal again.

But if it really that difficult to replace the blocks you broke to get in?
It takes but a few moments of your time to place them back.

I feel the way we used to do things in regards to this was good. You should make the effort to replace the blocks that you broke however if the owner of the structure is preventing you from replacing them that's on them and not you.

The idea of the rule is to encourage people to build and make the server look better, allowing people to just break into a structure and leave the hole they put in seems counter productive to the overall goal of the rule.

I just want to take the time as a 5+ year player in HC and as a Tier 9 donor, leading some of the largest towns in HC and doing almost all of the HC trailers... we never had a problem when griefing was illegal.

I just really want you guys to understand one of the reasons why the server population is failing, and if you want even more people to leave this is a reason why.

If I recall Kainzo said he knows its the toxic communities fault and he said this time around any player considered toxic will face punishment.

When they litterally threaten to digup all of the town around us until we come out...

This is not why the server population is "failing". Even non-donors have the ability to create a residency at a very low cost and up-keep. If their build is important to them, they will protect it.

Having said that, something needs to be done about the 100 blocks from town rule. I feel like any structure that a player builds within 100 blocks of another town should be removed upon request. This should include Herogates, conquest points, and spawn. If someone had enough time, they could build a wall around someone else's town, or prevent people from getting into a conquest point.

Honestly, why is it so hard to have griefing be illegal?

PVP is fine; THAT is a fight to keep your stuff, and a challenge to prevent yourself from being killed. However, when someone intentionally gets into someone else's town/home/residence for the sole purpose of creating complete chaos in that area, then that goes beyond PVPing and is not only rude, but is also very childish.

There are plenty of towns that have people spending literal days creating their castles, and having people come in to destroy that for the Hell of it defeats the purpose of what this server is supposed to be about.

The idea was to give players the ability to protect what was important, and leave what wasn't free to be taken down.

One example was random dirt huts in the world, some were actual homes for people, others were abandoned and the claiming system wasn't always so smooth.

I think it is worth discussing changing the rule again though.

I seriously believe it should be like it was, you can make towers and place water around towns to get inside, as long as you clean it up after words. I remember when I reported a 10x10 dirt block around rise against when that was my town and pandaman cleaned it right up and gave a 2 day ban for the person who left it there.

A few points that were brought up before the change, won't say they caused it, but they were brought up.

1: Work load. At the time we changed, there were insane number of PE's for everything from genuine grief, to a 1x2 set of blocks left behind after a failed raid. This fluctuates between staff count and player count, but cutting out grief and claim PE's cut down on the load.

2: Punishment. We had no consistent set of rules to deal with grief. How bad it was, multiple offenses, who was dealing with etc all lead to varrying punishment. Personally, I never bothered taking action for pillars because there were no rules for us on what to do. So I just cleaned up the pillar and went on my way.

3: Laissez Faire. Letting people protect what they feel should be protected, and remove the excess leftovers of vanishing players. It was a plan to let players police themselves. Threads like a Town Blacklist were made by leaders of towns, mayors and other town staff were given Prism logs, towns had private chats where the mayor could make the rules. All in an attempt to let players sort things out between themselves.

Is this all left up to the discretion of whoever is online/those that pick up the PE, or is there a set ruling based off of what counts as enough reasoning for a mod to intervene in a situation?

this is mainly because ritzerbenn is a cancerous tumour in which upon his removal my calculations estimate that server populace would begin to rise back to equilibrium by 10%
