I've noticed a lot of new players who don't seem to understand how HC works, like at all. I believe it would be prudent to have a link on the homepage into the township planning forums. I also think finding a way to tell new players joining a town usually requires a player to make a town application on the forums is a must. This isn't some other servers which puts players in a starter town as soon as they join (although that idea does have merit).

I have heard of some people wanting to/are working on a new tutorial which actually covers how HC works in a readable manner, however anything that can be done in short order to help retention and lighten the load on the guide team would probably be for the best.

We *had* a noob town ran by staff, but it required a lot of people and didn't do as well as we hoped.

Most people put short links in their recruitment messages, though we could add a hologram about it.

I was suggesting something on the forum homepage primarily. Mostly so people who choose to sign up first can go look for a town proactively.

Also, the holograms are just the worst. Look at tutorial island where they overlap and are nearly unreadable.

That wouldn't be too hard. We do have the little alert things above the articles. @Kainzo

I realize an error in my part, upon reworking the townships forum so that we could split up Township planning and actual town forums I believe the short links to link to towns have been messed up, Will be fixed soon.

Not 100% on topic but I would love it if people actually used the townships forum. However I would also like to see more township threads started, and especially by newer players. Often the ones who actually make threads are ones who are doing so because towns had to in the past. Encouraging this would make links like hc.to/townships useful in directing new players to all of the towns that they could possibly join.

It used to be pretty much required that all towns have a forum thread. This was before everything got automated in game by township plugins so it was probably more to help admins keep track if anything. But I would like to see a return of required township threads even if towns are not openly recruiting.
