It has come to my and some peoples attention that Ranger could maybe a little fair movement.

However not exactly a fast one, how about a passive [or active] that allows them to climb straight walls?

Wouldn't an archer need to naturally ascend to high areas in the first place? This skill sounds pretty logical for them when you consider it, They'd climb at the same speed you would normally climb a ladder and not at like super speed or something. Allowing a class like ranger to have more options.

then give ranger an ability that shoots dragons!

On a serious note: Range already has grappling hook which does all of this and more, I don't think a passive wall climb is needed onto of it.

Well, ranger does have high dex. (highest in game) but ye, mobility compared to the other rogues, kinda lacking on ranger.

With the removal of the shortened grappling hook, ranger mobility is actually at its highest point. A ninja should be using grappling hook to summit mountains and the like, while using backflip to get away from fights/close the gap(which ranger can still do). Bard and Runeblade now have lower mobility than ranger and ninja.

On a More serious note, Ranger does have the least mobility tools of all the rouge class's... , and on a side note *COUGH* BARD IS A GLORIFIED SUPPORT

Mobility Tools:
Ranger: 1
Rune blade: 2
Ninja: 4

And the one mobility tool that Ranger has (Grapple shot) Is Unreliable, it
1:Takes 2-3 seconds to charge
2:Significantly Slows you when using it
3:Has a Long ass Cool down(30 Seconds)

Runeblade/Ninja Each have an Instant cast dash on a 7 second Cooldown,

I'll still argue that ranger has the better mobility over rune blade, but rune blade has the damage to better take advantage of the mobility. I don't think grapple is unreliable at all, I've seen people summit mountains with one arrow, climb buildings with a single arrow, and pull people around and use grapple as a CC better than what any rune blade can do. Rune blade's mobility in its current stage, is best used to close small gaps, while pvping, and sometimes used to disengage from a fight, all of which ranger can do with a higher range that RB can only dream of.

Ninja of course cannot be compared to ranger in this way as they're totally different classes. Ninja doesn't have a "dash" it has backflip which takes some serious skill to pull of as a proper mobility skill. Most ninjas then have to rely on grapple hook, which is the exact same as ranger's. Smoke/Fade are more used for stealth and other ninja things that ranger shouldn't have.

I'm all for good suggestions, but its my opinion that a wall climb would be absolutely worthless for rangers, because grappling hook can do the something. If it was added I'm willing to bet seeing people complain that 2 of ranger's mobility skills do the exact something.

I do agree, having two skills doing essentially the same thing is redundant, Backflip is Technically a Dash, and Flash is a Blink

As for more viable skills to put on a ranger, i can think of two things
1: Back flip ,An Ability that allows a ranger to kite back words, while staying safe and is viable as an escape
On any ranged class the ability to kite is essential, Ice volley 'Can' Help with this, but lets be honest.. that skill is kinda trash, half the time the arrows land at your feet. and the other half they fly off into the stratosphere.

2:Bear Traps, a Trap the ranger can place on the ground, and roots an enemy when stepped on just

Activating The ability places a Bear trap(Probably a pressure plate) At the rangers feet

Ranger Stores up to 1+(.1 Dex) Bear traps,
Stores a new charge every 20 Seconds
Traps Take .5 seconds to arm
Traps Root target for 2+(.03 Dex) Seconds
Ranger May have up to 5 Traps on the ground at once
Traps last for 3 Minutes

Just an Example, seeing as the Ranger is like a hunter, traps is something that would make sense on the class

@joshtsai I do agree with Zidane_Leanhart on giving ranger some type of way to give more of a distance between enemies. Explosive shot could be an argument but I still believe a trap would be neat or maybe giving ranger a better Grappling Hook than the Ninja has. Who knows, but I do know that many people would agree with ranger having an ordinary skill set with less mobility than Runeblade and even Bard in some eyes of the HC people.

I'm not against giving ranger anything, I just thought that a wall climb wouldnt be what rangers would like, a trap would be interesting though, not sure how useful in a real situation though.

Honestly, when I think of ranger, I think of a class who might be able to make a hole in the ground with a trap then cover the hole up, master of the bow, able to poison tip arrows, put flame on them, maybe even have a skill that spawns an eagles nest that you climb up to shoot on, I don't know, but I'd love to see ranger be more unique.

Still on the topic of mobility skills, I don't think ranger should have a climb skill because grapple shot can already do that. Instead, I personally think they should have something like a back step skill, similar to the berserker's lunge, but instead of going towards the targeted enemy, the ranger goes away from the targeted enemy. Something that they can use to get away from enemies in a pinch.

I was thinking: You back step 2 + (.1 per dexterity point) blocks away from your target!
Learned at level 35 (Pathfinder learns it at level 10)
Cool Down: 15 seconds
Stamina Cost: 300
